Sound

Our final decision for sound which you can hear on our trailer;

was chosen because of its slow build up creating tension but also fast paced to show Jacks lifestyle and the gangsta side to the genre. We then blended it into another track which was much more snappy and 'dangerous' sounding to portray Jacks life becoming more thrilling and hectic.

Soundtrack Initial Ideas
Our initial idea for the soundtrack of our trailer was an upbeat, drum and bass/dubstep sound. This would show the type of music the characters in the film listen to. We also thought, with this type of music it would be easy to build tension as sounds such a low, steady drum beat or drone can often give an effect of a heartbeat which will create suspense.
We also thought the soundtrack should have an obvious, deliberate change in it. For example, a slow and quiet start, perhaps using string-like instruments with just a slight beat, would allow our main character to be introduced whilst also creating tension and apprehension. The beat of the sound track would then change to an upbeat sound accompanied by a series of fast paced shots again creating tension, but also keeping the audience engrossed.

Kidulthood Sountrack

We liked the Kidulthood soundtrack as it represented the British music scene. The songs are not in mainstream circulation which we felt was appropriate for the genre of film as it is a unique film. It shows the type of music the characters in the film would listen to and gives the film and extra urban edge. The music is very parallel to what happens on screen which make is more effective.
